8/16/2011 Tallahassee, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointments of Teresa “Terri” Gaffney, Joseph K. Lopez and Cynthia S. Oster to the Thirteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Gaffney, 53, of Tampa, has been general counsel for Overstreet Wealth Management Inc. since 2003. Previously, Gaffney was an assistant state attorney for Hillsborough County from 1985 to 1987.

A member of the board of directors for the Jewish National Fund since 2006, Gaffney received an associate degree from the University of South Florida, a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from the University of Florida. She succeeds John McLaughlin and is appointed for a term beginning August 16, 2011, and ending July 1, 2015.

Lopez, 58, of Tampa, has been a partner with Banker Lopez Gassler P.A. since 2008. Previously, he practiced with Fowler, White, Boggs and Banker from 1978 to 2008. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Lopez received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from the South Texas College of Law. He succeeds Chris Barker and is appointed for a term beginning August 16, 2011, and ending July 1, 2015.

Oster, 41, of Tampa, has been a senior assistant county attorney for the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office since 2000. Previously, she was an assistant state attorney with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office from 1997 to 2000 and an assistant public defender with the Polk County Public Defender’s Office from 1996 to 1997.

Oster received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Stetson University College of Law. She succeeds William Schifino and is appointed for a term beginning August 16, 2011, and ending July 1, 2015. She is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.
