Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Mathew C. Lucas as judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
Lucas, 38, of Tampa, has served as a Hillsborough County Court judge since 2010. From 2002 to 2010, he practiced with Bricklemyer, Smolker & Bolves, P.A. both as an associate and as a shareholder. From 1999 to 2002 he was an associate with Carlton Fields, P.A. Lucas received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Florida.
“Judge Lucas has already gained a reputation as a wise and diligent judge and as a committed public servant,” Governor Scott said. “I know that Judge Lucas will continue to serve well in his new role on the Thirteenth Circuit bench.”
Lucas will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Susan Sexton.
