Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointments of Kirsten Rowe and Brande Smith to the Eighth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Rowe, 39, of Newberry, is a certified mediator and adjunct professor at Santa Fe College. Previously, she was an attorney with the law firm of Roth, Powell, Pearson and Hosley. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Widener University. Rowe succeeds Steven Willis and has been appointed for a term beginning July 15, 2013, and ending July 1, 2016.

Smith, 37, of Gainesville, is an assistant university counsel at the University of Florida. Previously, she was an assistant state attorney with the Eighth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office. She received her bachelor’s and law degree from the University of Florida. Smith succeeds Paul Donnelly and has been appointed for a term beginning July 15, 2013, and ending July 1, 2016.
