Today, Governor Rick Scott announced four appointments to the Board of Chiropractic Medicine.

Dr. Christopher J. Fox, 44, of West Palm Beach, is a chiropractic physician with Fox Spine & Sports Medicine, and an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University and Life University. He received his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Northeastern University and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University. Fox fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning September 25, 2013, and ending October 31, 2014.

Dr. Danita T. Heagy, 53, of St. Augustine, is a chiropractic physician and owner of Danita Thomas Heagy, DC, LLC. She received her bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College and her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University. Heagy succeeds Dr. Debra Hoffman and is appointed for a term beginning September 25, 2013, and ending October 31, 2016.

Dr. Julie M. Mayer Hunt, 55, of Crystal Beach, is a self employed chiropractic physician with Mayer Chiropractic. She received her associate’s degree from St. Pete College and her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University. Hunt succeeds Dr. Michael Mathesie and is appointed for a term beginning September 25, 2013, and ending October 31, 2016.

Ruth E. Pelaez, 42, of West Palm Beach, is an analyst with the Palm Beach County School District. Previously, she was an insurance agent with State Farm. Pelaez fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning September 25, 2013, and ending October 31, 2015.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
