Office of Adoption and Child Protection
Governor Crist believes that more should be done to encourage the adoption of Florida’s children. In July 2007, he established the Office of Adoption and Child Protection. The new office is led by Florida’s Chief Child Advocate, Jim Kallinger.

The Governor supports a statewide public service campaign to let all Floridians know the value of adoption and how it can promote a culture of life in our state.

2007 Annual Report

Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Advisory Council
The Office of Adoption and Child Protection will create the Child Abuse Prevention and Permanency Advisory Council. The work of the Council is critical for Florida’s planning and funding of future adoption promotion and child abuse, abandonment and neglect prevention efforts.
