Florida Children and Youth Cabinet: Child Death Review Teams Workgroup

Chaired by Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Elizabeth Dudek, the Child Death Review Teams Workgroup intends to assist the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet in its efforts to focus on the consolidation of potentially duplicative or unutilized child death review processes. The goal is to maximize use of those processes identified as most effective. The workgroup will review of the statutory requirements in place for child death reviews, the scope of such reviews and how the results of these reviews are used. To fulfill its charge, the workgroup will leverage existing state data sources regarding child death as a means to evaluate existing processes for child death reviews, to improve communication and collaboration across agencies regarding the investigation of child deaths and to recommend ways to improve the response to the investigation of deaths.
