Florida Children and Youth Cabinet Youth Commission

The Florida Youth Commission represents youth across the state, and as an advisory body to the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet. A Youth Commission representative attends all Florida Children and Youth Cabinet meetings and provides updates to the Cabinet on current issues facing Florida’s youth. The Youth Commission is committed to reaching out to other youth across the state to gain a better understanding of the various issues facing Florida’s next generation.

The first class of Youth Commissioners convened in 2011, and began to lay the foundation for Commissioners. This young group of individuals will be working very closely with the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet and the Governor’s Office of Adoption and Child Protection to ensure that the Commission continues to advise the Cabinet on youth issues.

The Commissioners will also research one issue important to Florida youth and present it to the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet.  The Youth Commission also has the opportunity to work on Cabinet workgroups throughout their tenure.

Goals of the Florida Youth Commission:

  • Always strive to be a voice for Youth around the state.
  • Advise the Cabinet on current issues the Youth Commission think are the most important to Florida’s youth.
  • Engage other young Floridians to get involved with the Youth Commission and the Cabinet, as well as Florida government.
