Governor Rick Scott Announces the Appointment of Chad Poppell as Secretary of the Department of Management Services

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Chad Poppell as Secretary of the Department of Management Services.

Governor Scott said, “Chad has been a great leader at DEO, and has made it his mission to help Florida families succeed. With more than a decade of service in government administration and his experience managing human resources for the city of Jacksonville, Chad will be a terrific leader at DMS. I know he will remain dedicated to promoting efficiency and providing support to Florida’s state agencies as they protect taxpayer investments in government.”

Chad Poppell said, “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as the Secretary of the DMS and I am excited to work together with my fellow state agencies on behalf of all Floridians. I look forward to helping execute Governor Scott’s vision of making Florida the best state in the nation to live, work and raise a family.”

Chad Poppell has served as the Chief of Staff for the Department of Economic Opportunity since January 2013. From 2011-2013, he worked as the Director of Employee Services at JEA, a municipally owned electric, water, and sewer provider in Jacksonville. Prior to that, he was appointed by Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton as the Chief of Human Resources for the City of Jacksonville. Poppell received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Valdosta State University.
