h3=. Florida H.O.P.E. Task Force
“Homeownership Promotes the Economy”

Message from Governor Crist
Foreclosure hurts all Floridians by depressing home values and causing families to lose homes, jobs and hope. As this task force comes together to explore solutions, we will search for ways to restore hope to Florida’s families – and to our state’s economy.

Mission of the Task Force
Homeownership is one of the cornerstones of the American dream. However, the number of homes lost to foreclosure has been steadily increasing over the past several years. In 2007, Florida ranked second in the country in home foreclosures. The Florida HOPE Task Force is created to bring together banking and mortgage industry representatives, consumer advocates and policy experts to address Florida’s escalating home foreclosure rate and the impact it has had on the state’s economy.
Created by Executive Order 08-27, the Task Force will comprehensively analyze foreclosure data from around the state and provide recommendations that will minimize the detrimental impact foreclosures have on Florida’s families and communities. With improved education, Floridians will be better able to prevent the financial devastation and family disruption caused by the loss of a home. The Task Force shall submit its final report and recommendations to the Governor, Senate President and Speaker of the House by April 18, 2008.
