Governor Crist Appoints Judge Robert James Morris Jr. to
Second District Court of Appeal
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today announced the appointment of Judge Robert James Morris Jr. of Clearwater to the Second District Court of Appeal.
“Judge Morris is a compassionate leader with extensive knowledge and experience,” Governor Crist said. “His 12 years of expertise will be invaluable to the people of the Second District.”
Judge Morris, 55, has served on the Sixth Judicial Circuit since 2001 and was elected Chief Judge in 2007. He began his career in the public sector as an Assistant State Attorney in the Sixth Judicial Circuit from 1980 to 1982. In 1982, he joined the law firm Foley & Larder and practiced there until 1992. He continued to practice as a sole practitioner until 1997. He served on the Pinellas County Court from 1997 to 2001. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from DePaul University.
Judge Morris will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Thomas Lee Stringer.
