His belief that every person, including Florida’s inmates, deserves a ‘second chance’ has given hope and encouragement to many in the state prison system, as well as those who served alongside him and the students he influenced after he left state government. Harry left a mark on Florida’s history that goes far beyond being the state’s first African-American prisons chief. Instead, he helped transform Florida’s future by changing lives.”
