SCHOOL GRADES

As a component of Governor Bush’s A+ Plan for Education, Florida’s schools are assigned a letter grade each year based upon student performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). The state provides its schools with rewards for success and consequences for failure.

To ensure schools are providing for all students enrolled, the performance of every student in the school is factored into the grade, including students with special needs or limited English proficiency.

Parents will receive a school report card that provides a comprehensive look at their child’s school, with results under state and federal standards, as well as information on spending at the school level.
