TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Judge Robert R. Wheeler to the Second Judicial Circuit Court.

Wheeler, 52, of Tallahassee, has served as a Leon County judge since 2010. Previously, Judge Wheeler served as General Counsel to the Governor from 2009-2010 and as Assistant General Counsel from 2007-2009. Judge Wheeler served as Senior Assistant Attorney General and Bureau Chief for Criminal Appeals from 2003-2006 and as an Assistant Attorney General from 1998-2003. From 1994-1998, he was a partner at LaPeer & Wheeler, P.A. Judge Wheeler received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. Wheeler fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Frank E. Sheffield.

Governor Rick Scott said, “Throughout his career, Judge Wheeler has proven to be a good steward for Florida families. I look forward to his continued service on the Second Judicial Circuit bench.”
