TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, during a meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Governor Rick Scott recognized John Rivers, the founder of the restaurant, 4 Rivers Smokehouse, with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award. 4 Rivers originated as a barbecue ministry in the Rivers’ family garage to support local organizations and charities. Since officially opening their doors in 2009, the barbecue restaurant has expanded to several locations across Florida and employs more than 1,000 Floridians.

Governor Scott said, “I am honored to recognize John Rivers with the Business Ambassador Award for his success in starting a successful business in Florida and creating more than 1,000 jobs. I have had the opportunity to visit many 4 Rivers across the state and have enjoyed meeting their employees and enjoying their great food.”

John Rivers, Founder of 4 Rivers Smokehouse, said, “I am humbled and thankful to receive the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award on behalf of the entire 4 Rivers team. We have been blessed to see the success of our family-owned business and look forward to future expansion throughout Florida.
