TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Scott recognized AT&T for its generous donation of $25,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund, which was activated earlier today to aid those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. The Florida Disaster Fund, administered by the Volunteer Florida Foundation, is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities in times of disaster.

Governor Scott said, “I want to thank AT&T for its incredible generosity. Hurricane Matthew impacted communities from Palm Beach to Nassau and now thousands of families along the east coast are focused on recovery and returning to their normal routines. The Florida Disaster Fund, through generous contributions from individuals and corporations alike, will provide critical funding to disaster relief organizations committed to assisting those in need.”

Joe York, AT&T President Florida, Puerto Rico & US-VI, said, “Humanitarian responses to natural disasters depend on contributions from the public as well as the generosity of governments. AT&T’s contribution to the Florida Disaster Fund will help Floridians as they begin the work of recovery and rebuilding.”

Volunteer Florida CEO Chester W. Spellman said, “The Florida Disaster Fund was established with exactly this type of disaster in mind. Disaster relief organizations have been serving the people of Florida since before Hurricane Matthew made landfall, and AT&T’s generous support allows us to support those organizations and the families they serve. We are grateful.”
