TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of two to the Florida Commission on Human Relations.

Maryam Laguna Borrego, 30, of Miami, is the assistant vice president of public affairs at the University of Miami, Coral Gables. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida. She succeeds Clyde Daniel and is appointed for a term beginning March 6, 2018 and ending September 30, 2021.

Samantha Hoare, 36, of North Miami, is the executive director of Teach for America, Miami-Dade. She received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her MBA from Florida International University. She succeeds Sandra Turner for a term beginning March 6, 2018 and ending September 30, 2021.

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
