Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Carey Baker and Ed Kelley to the Local Government Efficiency Task Force.
Carey Baker
Baker, of Eustis, is the elected Property Appraiser of Lake County. He is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives as well as the Florida Senate where he served as Chairman of both the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate General Government Appropriation Committee. Baker joined the Army National Guard while still in high school and retired with the rank of First Sergeant in 2013. In 2003, while serving in the Florida legislature, he was deployed to combat infantry missions in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Ed Kelley
Kelley, of Ormond Beach, is the outgoing County Chair of Volusia County. He retired as a Sales Distributor and President of European Operations for Hawaiian Tropic after 30 years of service in 2001. Prior to his term as County Chair, Kelley was an Ormond Beach City Commissioner before being elected Mayor of Ormond Beach. His community involvement includes service with the Volusia Water Alliance, Volusia Council of Governments and the River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization. Kelley earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Belmont College.
