Governor Rick Scott’s 2011 Father’s Day Message

Full Text:

This is Governor Rick Scott.

As we celebrate Father’s Day weekend, I want to take a moment to say, “Thank you” to all men throughout our state who provide a loving and secure home for their children every day.

The support and guidance a young person receives from a father, grandfather, uncle or other male role model builds the character and confidence needed for success throughout life.

For fathers who are away from home and family because of their service to our country, we say a prayer for your continued strength and safety.

This Father’s Day weekend, I invite fathers to enjoy the excitement of saltwater fishing in Florida. On June 18 and 19, you can share in the fun without a license, although all other regulations will apply.

Saltwater fishing is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend. So pack your gear, and take your dad and the kids saltwater fishing.

After all, Florida is the fishing capital of the world!
