Jerusalem, Israel – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis led the Florida delegation to the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City of Jerusalem. Over the decades the Wall has been visited by millions of tourists and pilgrims and is often visited by heads of state when in Israel.

“It is an incredible privilege to be able to visit the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre,” said Governor DeSantis. “The Wall is a lasting testament to the Jewish community and their history as a people and a sacred site of their faith. I am honored to be able to lead this delegation of Florida leaders as they experience the rich history Israel has to offer the world.”

The Western Wall is among the most sacred accessible sites of the Jewish faith. A common tradition at the site is to insert hand written notes and prayers into the cracks along the Wall. The Governor inserted his own plea to spare Florida from hurricanes this season. He also included a letter from a young girl in the Florida Panhandle who lost her home during Hurricane Michael.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one of the most sacred locations in the Christian world, identified as the place where Jesus was crucified and was buried.
