Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointments of Robert Long Jr., to the First District Court of Appeal, Edward Artau to the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Jennifer J. Frydrychowicz to the First Circuit Court and Jacqueline Steele to the Manatee County Court.

Robert Long Jr.

Long, of Tallahassee, has been a Judge for the Second Circuit since 2016. He currently serves as a Lieutenant in the Navy Reserve. He previously served as the General Counsel for the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Long fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge James Wolf.

Edward Artau

Artau, of West Palm Beach, is the son of Cuban Americans whose family fled from Cuba to the United States to escape tyranny and pursue liberty. Artau has been a Judge for the Fifteenth Circuit since 2014 and previously served as the General Counsel for the South Florida Water Management District. He received his bachelor’s degree from Nova Southeastern University and his law degree from Georgetown University. Artau fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Carole Taylor.

Jennifer J. Frydrychowicz

Frydrychowicz, of Pensacola, has been an Escambia County Judge since 2014. She previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in the First Circuit. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Frydrychowiz fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Michael Allen.

Jacqueline Steele

Steele, of Bradenton, is an attorney at McConnaughhay, Coonrod, Pope, Weaver & Stern, P.A. She previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Thirteenth Circuit. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and her law degree from Florida State University College of Law. Steele fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Robert Farrance.
