RE:              Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Former Representative Marlene O’Toole

 

On January 30, 2024, Former Representative Marlene O’Toole passed away at the age of 78. O’Toole represented House Districts 42 and 33 from 2008 to 2016 in the Florida House of Representatives. Former Representative O’Toole was dedicated to improving education for Florida students. While serving in the House, she was appointed to serve as chair of the House Education Committee and the Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Following her time in the House, O’Toole was able to continue serving her community when she was appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for Lake-Sumter State College. She also worked as the community relations director for Beacon College. O’Toole lived a life of service and always showed her unwavering dedication to the citizens of Florida.

As a mark of respect, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the Lake County Courthouse in Tavares, Florida, the City Hall of Leesburg, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
