Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Brent Sparkman, William Blend, Jason Lafser and Bill Benson to the Board of Accountancy.
Brent Sparkman
Sparkman, of Tallahassee, is a certified public accountant and partner at Carr, Riggs and Ingram. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and sits on the board of Ameris Bank. Sparkman earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Florida State University.
William Blend
Blend, of Orlando, is a certified public accountant and shareholder with MSL, P.A.. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Public Accountants. Blend is also a member of the Florida Government Finance Officers Association, the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce and the Seminole State College Advisory Board. He served in and received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy before earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Long Island University.
Jason Lafser
Lafser, of Saint Johns, is a certified public accountant and managing director at BDO USA, LLP. Previously, he was a partner at The LBA Group. Lafser is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is Vice President of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce’s Health Council. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Murray State University and a master of business administration from the University of North Florida.
Bill Benson
Benson, of Plantation, is a certified public accountant and managing partner at Keefe McCullough. He is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves as Treasurer of the Sheriff’s Association of Broward County, Chair of the Catholic Community Foundation and a board member for St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Benson earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from Washington & Lee University.
These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
